The company proposed a 90,000 square foot state of the art decor printing facility in Maryland Heights. G&W Engineering provided engineering criteria and implementation of the ultra-sophisticated Rotodecor Printing Press. Engineering oversight and contractor application produced a system not previously utilized by Schattdecor.

The previous system serving 38 of these press machines utilized a complex system of dampers, ducts, multiple cooling and heating coils, an interior air handling unit, and roof mounted condenser.  The mechanical system installed at the newly completed Maryland Heights facility utilizes two premium rooftop units with outside air modulation and modulating direct expansion cooling capacity to meet the needs of the printing press.

Additionally, a heat exchanger was designed to capture the exhaust heat generated by the drying process of the press. The recaptured heat is utilized to heat other portions of the factory and save heating costs through the heating season.

Approximately $500,000.00 dollars was saved over previous mechanical system installations. The system currently installed at the Maryland Heights is being considered as the Basis of Design for future Schattdecor facilities and allows less capital expense and the ability to efficiently accommodate future printing presses and capacity.
