PROJECT SCOPE:

G&W was selected to provide MEP systems for the new building of 112,000 square foot facility that consisted of a five-section school that serves 850 PK-5 students. The school’s main corridor links together core areas of education: mind, body and spirit. Each classroom wing features a centralized extended learning area, including sinks for experiments and other projects, and movable teaching walls to create a highly flexible, dynamic teaching space.  The media center is designed as a two-story space with an upstairs reading room. The stair to the second floor provides additional seating and a reading area for students.  The multi-purpose room features a stage for performances and is equipped with an operable partition that allows the entire cafeteria to be opened for additional seating.  All classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and smart boards. Sustainable design elements include daylighting, a heat-reflective roof and energy-efficient exterior envelope and building systems.  The district elected the energy saving design of a VRV system for space conditioning with dedicated outdoor air systems for code compliant ventilation, high efficiency lighting systems with a combination of fluorescent and LED fixtures and ICT systems. Control system will use Ethernet via the existing districts wide area network.
